The Volkswagen Type 166 was developed on the basis of the KdF car and the type 82 for the Wehrmacht. The result is the world's most popular and with his skills on land and water the most successful Schwimmwagen ever, which was recognized even by the former enemies of the war. In today's off-road competitions, VW Schwimmwagen have outclassed even modern competitors due to their low weight. From autumn 1942 to summer 1944, more than 14,000 pieces were manufactured at the Volkswagen factory near Fallersleben.
